The 25 x 1 in. (559 mm) Shox Urethane Wheelchair Tire with Herringbone Tread design features a proprietary formula of solid urethane which provides the suspension of an air filled tire and the peace of mind knowing you will never get a flat tire or periodically have to fill the tire will air.
Urethane Wheelchair Tire Fitment Notes
This tire will fit most 559 mm sized wheelchair rims. You’ll know you have a 559mm rim if the existing tire size is 25 x 1” (20-559 mm), 25 x 1” (23-559 mm), or 25 x 1” (25-559 mm). Note that some wheelchair tires may be stamped 26 x 1” (25-559 mm). As long as your existing tire is stamped 559 mm, this tire should fit. You can confirm the size by looking at the size stamped on your existing tire. In most cases your rim will also have a hole for an inner tube valve stem (meaning the rim is of a standard size). This tire will also replace most tires used on Quickie, Top End (Invacare), TiLite, or any other wheelchair where the rim has a hole for a valve stem. It will also fit most rims including rims from Spinergy, Primo, and X-Core that have a hole for an inner tube valve stem. If your existing tire is not stamped with the 559 mm size, this tire will most likely not fit.
Installation Notes
Installing these tires onto a wheelchair rim can be very challenging without the proper tools. This is because the tire itself is smaller than the wheelchair rim and needs to be stretched onto the rim. If you do not have the ability or the tools to properly install these tires, it is advisable to seek professional help. You cannot install this tire by hand.
If you have a properly mounted bench vise, you can purchase a solid tire installation tool which can be found on these pages:
